“While Jesus and his followers were traveling, Jesus went into a town. A woman named Martha let Jesus stay at her house. Martha had a sister named Mary, who was sitting at the Lord’s feet and listening to what he said; But Martha was busy, worried, and distracted with all the work to be done. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work, Therefore Tell her to help me.”
But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried, upset and confused about many things. Only one thing is important, necessary, and needed. Mary has chosen the better thing, and it will never be taken away from her.”
AND JUST LIKE MARTHA MANY OF US ARE TOO BUSY, WORRIED, UPSET, AND CONFUSED ABOUT THE WRONG THINGS INSTEAD OF THE “ONE THING” MARY WAS FOCUSED ON WHICH JESUS SAID WAS THE MOST “IMPORTANT” THING. AND THAT THING WAS SITTING AT HIS FEET AND LISTENING TO HIM.
SO, WHAT IS IT THAT CONFUSES US AND KEEPS US FROM EXPERIENCING THE PRESENCE AND THE PEACE OF GOD?
IT IS SIMPLY OUR REFUSAL TO CHANGE WHEN IT COMES TO OUR LIFE IN CHRIST. I CAN ALMOST GUARENTEE THAT EVEN AFTER JESUS REBUKED MARTHA AND TOLD HER SHE WAS NOT SERVING HIM CORRECTLY, SHE CONTINUED TO DO WHAT SHE WAS DOING.
AND JUST LIKE MARTHA, EVEN THOUGH GOD HAS SPOKE TO US DIRECTLY AND TOLD US TO CHANGE THE WAY WE’RE DOING THINGS IN OUR CHRISTIAN WALKS, AS MISERABLE AS WE ARE OR HOW EMPTY WE FEEL, WE ARE DETERMINED TO DO THINGS AS WE’VE ALWAYS DONE WHILE EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS…BUT YOU DO REALIZE WHAT THAT’S CALLED, RIGHT?
ARE WE ABLE TO TAKE A CANDID LOOK AT OUR LIFE AND LET IT REVEAL WHERE CHANGES MUST TAKE PLACE?
