The Times We Live In
With things like social networking and text messaging, it’s hard to think that someone could fall in love in our world. Everything in life seems to point towards material possessions or celebrity worship. Relationships seem to be put on the back burner. I think every individual’s goal is to fall in love and have a beautiful, long-lasting relationship. But, I think society’s goal is to take that away from you. Television wants to grab your focus; brands try to get you to buy from them. The social networking platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and others enhance their advertising platform. If you aren’t aware, relationships and the times will cause you to lose all of your relational foundations.
Technology and Relationships
We live in a different time. The world is much more technology-based than it has been in the past and people spend a great deal of time online. If you forget what’s most important in life, then you can lose out on what you really want the most. I think everyone wants a long lasting, supportive and beautiful relationship, but they lose sight of that because they are so caught up in less important things.
Relationships are Still Important
There are many ways to maintain love in our fast-paced, cut-throat world. One of them is putting your partner first. What is the most important thing in your life? Is it your partner? If you answered yes, then you are right. Your partner who you are in a relationship with is the person that matters most. When it comes to spending time with them, make sure to turn off the cell phone, log out of Facebook, and just look at them.
In my previous relationship, the other person got so caught up in virtual worlds like Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter that she forgot about our relationship. Clearly, the digital world can be poison for a relationship. It seems like the world wants us to forget about love and submit to it, but that is not what life is about. Life is about falling in love and being with someone you love.
Losing Important Connections
If you ever feel yourself losing that special connection with your partner to the digital world, make sure to fix it before you lose them completely. Let them know that they are your number one in life and they mean far more to you than anything else. Don’t let the world of social networking and work get in the way of you and the person you care for the most….Before it’s too late!
