Who doesn’t love a good ol’ date night? Of course, the classic dinner and a movie comes to mind. Or, maybe you’re more of the adventurous type? Someone who is keen on trying something new like rock climbing or a quirky immersive attraction. Whatever your jam used to be pre Covid-19, last year the world as we knew it came to a sudden halt. The world suddenly became a whole lot more stressful amid uncertainty. And dating, as we knew it, had become a thing of the past.
Out of this uncertainty, a London couple decided to do something about it. That something is Let’sDate Crate, a new company inspiring a different way of dating.
Let’sDate Crate
We were lucky enough to catch up with Anat, one half of the couple behind the company. I spotted them on my Instagram feed a couple of months back, but you might have also seen them featured recently in The Evening Standard. I love new date ideas so I asked Anat to share a bit more about their story and tell us about this new way of dating mid Covid.
It was around the time of the first lockdown when, like many others, Keenan and I – a London based couple of 10 years- lost our jobs. We grew increasingly anxious about being stuck at home with nothing to do and nowhere to go. After some time, it became clear that what we needed was a date night to rekindle that magical spark, but obviously our options were extremely limited. That’s when we realised that other people were definitely facing the same problem, too. So, we decided to make lemonade out of lemons, threw our savings together and came up with Let’sDate Crate!
With Let’sDate Crate, we literally bring the date to your door. We create fun and flirty themed date boxes with everything needed for the perfect night in. All you have to do is pop open the box, follow simple set up instructions, relax, unwind and let the sparks fly!
Tropical Staycation
We really want to make it an immersive experience. Each box comes with activities, drinks, snacks, fancy dress props, mood setting props and a Spotify playlist. They are all handpicked to a given theme. We also run through each date ourselves in our laboratory (aka. our living room)! This ensures precise amount of fun, romance and whimsiness.
Our first date box was a Tropical Staycation. Given that travelling isn’t an option right now, we thought why not recreate a paradise getaway with sandcastles, palm trees and sunset views but from your living room!
90’s Rewind Crate
Our most recent addition is the ‘90s Rewind crate. This one aims to teleport twosomes back in time to a sleepover party with truth or dare or trivia, tie-dye and some extra funky snacks and drinks! (Editor’s note, this looks right up my street – hello there The Fresh Prince).
On a personal note, it’s been an amazing rollercoaster journey so far and we are super honoured we get to spread joy to others like us who just miss that pizzazz of date night!
